8 Conclusions We presented a novel level set evolution method. The novelty of our algorithm stems out from the three contributions: non-parametric estimation of probability distributions using a recently proposed method, NPMM-ICLS modelling of the image histogram, and accommodation of the partial volume effect. While the utility of each of the individual method has been shown already in various image analysis applications, we show here that they can be used for curve evolution purposes. A number of extensions to this method are in order.

The curve evolution is achieved through geometric and implicit function based level set method. We have also shown that given a pattern database, pattern disocclusion problem can be solved from the minimum error between occluded and derived pattern.
